You know that saying about two birds and one stone? Well, I recently applied that concept to our family’s life!

My husband is an incredible man. He works hard, he always helps me with my blog errands. He helps cook and clean, he lets me sleep in on weekends and he changes just as many diapers as I do. Many may not know this, but I fell into this wonderful world of blogging from my love of photography and my business. Every year for my birthday or Christmas, he gets me great equipment for my camera- lenses, new bodies, tripods, more lenses, you get it. I love capturing crisp, clear memories that will remain just as vivid when printed as they are in my mind. He treats me to all of this wonderful tech and it allows me to capture beautiful photographs of he and our children. When the time comes for me to get into a photo, it’s a bit more challenging. My camera is heavy, my lenses are heavy and unless you take professional photos on a regular basis and really learn the craft, it can be difficult to capture that perfect moment. I’ve had blurry photos upon blurry photos, limbs being cut out, and bad lighting. Mom’s out there, I’m sure you can relate to just wanting a few great photos of yourself with those little ones, right?

Let’s go off on an awesome tangent for a minute, shall we?

Jay works long days and a lot of his work is done with his phone. Working in auto manufacturing, he is always having to snap photos of paint defects etc to troubleshoot. He also stores all of his meetings in his phone’s calendar, has countless e-mails he responds to- I swear that thing is ALWAYS working! With all of the stress that comes with his position at work and the stresses of family life, the LAST thing he needed was a phone that couldn’t measure up to what he needed. Well, clearly you see where I’m going with this. That is exactly what was happening. His phone that he was relying on to be a workhorse fell short in so many ways. The camera wasn’t great (AT ALL), the graphics were lackluster and it froze on him constantly! He would become so frustrated with it and I heard at least once a day “I have GOT to get a new phone”.

So that’s just what we did. We headed to Target (or Red Circle Store, as the kids call it) to get him that phone he deserves.

Last week the new Samsung S9+ came out and Y’ALL, it’s so dreamy! First of all, lets discuss the gorgeous infinity display. That waterproof screen goes from edge to edge and it is so sleek! We went with the Coral Blue color, but it also comes in Lilac Purple and Midnight Black.

There are so many incredible features of this new phone that Jay loves but lets jump into my favorite feature, right? THAT CAMERA! The dual aperture lens adapts like the human eye, meaning it takes amazing photos in daylight OR super low light- how great is that?! The photographer in me is all about the perfectly lit photo so naturally, this blows my mind! The slow-mo feature is so much fun, too.

When we brought the phone home, Jay and the kids had so much fun playing with the camera! What’s even more fun is you can turn yourself into an emoji. Ada is emoji obsessed so she loves it!

Get this, the amazing camera also recognizes your face. I love that! Gone are the days of password lock, or fingerprint lock, this S9+ takes security to a whole other level. Have a trip planned? It has LIVE translation! You really need to go to Target and check out the features of this phone and prepare to have your mind blown! You hold the phone up to a street sign, for example and it will translate that the sign says in your own language. Is that not incredible? So this phone can help you navigate while discovering another culture AND it can take your amazing vacation photos!

I have always carried my big, bulky DSLR with me everywhere I went. You never know when you will see the perfect sunset by the beach, or a gorgeous field with low fog, or just a tender moment worth capturing. Our phones cameras never measured up to capturing these memories the way we were seeing them. Now I don’t have to worry about grainy, phone photos. I don’t need to worry about hopping in a photo and having the tree in the distance in focus while the kids and I are a blur (sorry, babe, I always appreciate the effort). I don’t need to lug around that big camera and all of those lenses. Now he can pull his phone out, open up that amazing camera and snap a crystal clear, perfectly lit, beautifully in focus photo of the kids and I that means the world to me.

More pixels, more memories.
