Finding the Fun in the Mundane

Y’all we have had maybe two nice, sunny days in the last week and a half. We have one or two sunny days within the next week. It’s rainy and gray and gloomy.

When we woke up this morning, their faces fell at the sight of the wet concrete outside. No running and playing outside today. It’s so easy on days like this to feel down but honestly I take it as a challenge. Why should the rain get me down? I have SO much to be thankful for. The weather may not be beautiful, but there is no reason why the day can’t be.

Today we decided it would be extra fun to have a jumping contest. Who can jump the highest? Who can keep jumping the longest? See there are two types of people in this world- those who jump on beds and those who don’t. In my house? We jump on the beds (with adult supervision of course). I took it as an opportunity to snap some fun keepsake photos. Kids in their element, filled with joy, on a gloomy, rainy day.

Today’s homeschool lesson? Find the light on a cloudy day. Be positive, be light and have fun.

  1. Always fun to just jump and not think about anything else but your children laughing, squealing and having a good time. Makes us laugh and have a good time.

  2. Thank you for the reminder to find the fun in everyday life. So days can just drag on! We don’t have the rain problem where I live but the extreme cold and snow that just hasn’t let up. It’s kind of hard to go outside when it is -25 celsius and blowing snow!
