Family is everything to me. I’m blessed to be able to say that my relationship with my family is something I cherish. When we are together you hear laughter, feel warmth and love and see smiling faces. Often times I envy those of you who live near family and are able to be surrounded by them on a regular basis. Other times I feel like the relationship we have together is because of the fact that we aren’t in close proximity. The vivid images and memories in my mind are of us all gathered around a table to enjoy incredible meals, sitting beside a fire exchanging stories of when my sister and I were younger, playfully razzing each other about who has the correct details. I look forward to morning walks, and evenings spent together over drinks, now that we are all of age.
This past holiday was no different. We all trekked up to Rhode Island to visit my Dad first. We made many memories in his new home- mornings spent on the deck sipping coffee while my sister’s dog swam, a trip to the tree farm to cut down a Christmas tree and munch on some apple cider donuts and evenings spent on the sea wall in the yard, sipping on Voveti with my sister while Jay and my Dad built a great fire.
We each enjoyed the Voveti Minis (187 ml) by the water, catching up on life while my grandparents played with the kids inside. We shared laughs and definitely had fun just getting time together alone- that NEVER happens.
It’s so crazy to think that we are both old enough to enjoy a glass of refreshing Voveti together. Ally is 6 years younger than me, and I still see her as a little tom boy with a bottle hanging from her front teeth with a ball in her hand. Yet, here we are, early and late twenties talking about cookware and cheese boards- ha! Adulting, right? Lucky for us, Voveti is an easy drinking aperitif or cocktail, perfect to share with friends- and she is my very best friend!
Of course, when she had to go tend to her sweet yellow lab (my fur nephew), I got to continue enjoying a quiet moment… talk about a sweet memory to make. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching my children make memories, I love seeing my family members connect and laugh, BUT as a busy mom with someone always hanging on me and answering “why” all day long, a quiet moment to sip and savor is something so beautiful. Moms out there, I know you can relate! This fresh, crisp and delicate prosecco by Voveti was just the perfect touch!
Rhode Island was amazing. I always appreciate visiting the streets I grew up driving on. Eating a packed breakfast on my favorite little secluded beach with my children and husband. Warm coffee on a crisp morning and watching the sunrise on the bay… it definitely does something for my soul! Our journey wasn’t done there, though! Off we went to Virginia to visit my Mom!
Remember those cheese boards I mentioned before? We’ve been eating like that far before it was trendy! On nights that my dad worked late, my Mom would slice up cold, leftover steak and put it beautifully on a cutting board alongside a variety of cheese, crackers, fresh bread, pretzels, fresh cold berries, sliced, raw veggies…She would clean out the fridge and pantry and carry it out to the coffee table and she, my sister and I would sit on pillows and watch a movie and munch. We do it at our home too, Ada calls it a picnic. I knew that as soon as we got to my Mom’s after our long drive that a beautiful cheese board would be waiting for us. She didn’t disappoint. Nuts, olives, a variety of cheese, salami, fruit- and Italian cookies! Perfect snack and perfect pairing for the Bottle of Voveti I brought to her house!
We sat together and made plans for the next time we’re together, while sipping our prosecco. The mouthwatering acidity and lively fruit flavors make it the perfect pairing for the spread my mom laid out. It complimented the nuts and olives, elevated the flavors of the cheese, oh my gosh my mouth is watering and I have a feeling of nostalgia just talking about it. We whipped up a fresh batch of spaghetti noodles to be topped with a light pasta sauce and sipped through the cooking and dining. Isn’t it funny how food and drinks can trigger memories or feelings? These flavors always remind me of home, but more importantly of my Mom. My love of fresh flavors (and prosecco-ha!) and homemade dishes comes from her and VOVETI is a brut style DOC with tempered acidity and a fresh, graceful profile, exactly what we like!
Leaving is always tough, I’m 28 years old and still get “home sick”. Making memories like these bring me so much comfort. Tonight I may just put together a “picnic” for the kids and I and have Jay pick up a bottle of Voveti on his way home. Cheers, y’all!
