9 weeks ago, we became a family of five!

If you follow my blog and my family then you already know that. Lately, I’ve been asked on an almost daily basis how we are all adjusting. I will admit, it both is and is not what I expected.

You see, Greyson was baby number two and we were able to easily adjust. When Greyson needed me, Jay could spend time with Ada. It was an easy balance. Now, there are two little ones to care for when Westley needs me and that is sometimes easier said than done. Life with a home-schooled five year old, a two year old and a newborn has been nothing short of a wild adventure.

When I was a child and someone said “Brittney, what do you want to be when you grow up?” My answer was always “I want to be a Mom, I want to have a family.”

So, on those hard days, I try to remind myself that I have exactly what I’ve always wanted.

I have a beautiful newborn baby boy, who looks up at me with love and trust- like I am his entire world.

I have two wonderful children who have become absolute best friends. Like any kids, they need to feel loved and important. So with bringing home Westley, Jay and I knew it was important we make our family feel like just that- a family. Like each voice mattered and like each relationship is treasured.

So while I spend quiet bonding moments with Wes, Jay will take the kids for a bike ride, or out back to play ball or just run out some energy.

When Wes naps, sometimes Jay will watch a movie with Grey to allow Ada and I some girl time. I’ll paint her nails or read her books or take her on Kroger trips and let her push the kid-sized cart.

Sometimes, Jay will take Ada on dates to Chuck – E – Cheese, or to go get an ice cream. In those times Grey and I will turn on the music and I’ll pick him up and dance with him, or give him some quiet one – on – one time to hold his baby brother. His whole face lights up with pride- queue the happy mommy tears!

Sometimes Jay and I want time with the baby, so we will put out some crayons and paper for the kids and put on Toy Story (Grey’s FAVORITE movie) and let them have some quiet time. Y’all, there is NOTHING wrong with taking some quiet time with a little help from our friend Walt Disney!

These times are fleeting and these moments we will never get back.

Of course like any family, we have those days where we just sit around and relax.

For those cozy days we like to lounge around in our Boody Eco Wear, which is an amazing brand for your whole family.

Their super soft underwear and base layers are spun from organic bamboo yarn, making it not only eco- friendly, but stretchy, breathable and wrinkle free! The kids love to snuggle up with their blankets from the Boody Eco Wear baby collection. The blankets are also the BEST for swaddling baby because of the stretch. I have worn their tanks, tees and leggings constantly since I’ve brought Wes home and Jay loves the high quality tees for men as well!

The baby long sleeved onesies¬† are SO soft for baby’s skin. my FAVORITE feature of them is the zipper. It is a two way zipper so you only need to unzip from the bottom, making those middle of the night diaper changes MUCH easier!

I’m sure every family adjusts in different ways to bringing home a new little one. It comes with it’s challenges of course, but I think if you put the focus on each member of the family being included in this special time it will have a smooth and successful outcome. I think slow- paced days in are an absolute must! There’s nothing better than knowing I’m not only dressing my baby in the softest bamboo fabric, but knowing that he is being held against it as well when getting those sweet baby snuggles!

What are ways you adjust to bringing home a new little one? What are activities that you do as a family with a newborn as well as activities to keep the other children occupied?
